D-Day Commemorations Continue

12:04am 8th June 2014

Glider pilots who took off from an airfield in Dorset as part of the D Day operation will be remembered at a special service this afternoon.

It's being held at Tarrant Rushton Airfield.

The Dorset village was home to a secret Royal Air Force base in the 1940's which had thousands of personnel.

This afternoon's service starts at 2.30pm and is being held at the stone memorial at the former entrance to the airfield.

Meanwhile a full civic march and service is being held on the seafront in Lyme Regis this afternoon.  46 branches of the British Legion in Dorset have been asked to send a standard-bearer.
