West Dorset Farm Shop Hit In The Pocket By Roadworks

Washingpool Farm

Roadworks on the B3162 near Bridport have had a serious impact on the livehood of one local business.

The road North and South of Washingpool Farm at North Allington's now back open.

Simon Holland from the farm shop says they welcome the improvements to road but they have taken a bit of a hit.

"We have had some determined customers fight their way through and get into us, but we are 50 to 60 % down on takings."

"We've had to get on with other jobs and made sure we bought less stock.  It's been taking some of our customers 40 minutes to get to us."

We asked Simon how he thought the roadworks have been handled, and he had no complaints.

"You've got to accept these roadworks are going to happen. We do have a nice new road surface up to us now.  To be honest the council and Hansons have kept us informed all the time and have been very helpful."
