Health Campaigners Protest In Dorchester

pathology campaign

(Updated 7:16am 16th June 2014)

Campaigners trying to save the future of Pathology service at Dorset County Hospital are canvassing support in Dorchester this morning (Saturday 14th June)

The Hospital say they're reviewing the pathology unit to ensure they're getting "the best value" for patients.

But campaigners are worried it will be privatised and moved to Taunton.

Across the country, changes are being made to centralise pathology units.

Campaigner and West Dorset Councillor Ros Kayes isn't happy with the idea:

"If that tender goes to a private company, is it going to the private company because they're going to cost less and will they do a less quality job? If they do a worse job who is going to suffer?  The patients obviously!"

Dorset County Hospital say all essential pathology services will remain at on site.
