Sign Up To Neighbourhood Watch
8:22am 19th June 2014
The next in a series of crime prevention road shows is taking place in Dorchester today.
Officers together with members of Neighbourhood Watch will be at Dorchester Library this morning from 10.30am – 12.30pm.
They’ll be trying to get more of us to sign up to our local watch schemes.
A range of freebies have been offered during the roadshows, including UV pens and small bells to attach to handbags. A whole range of leaflets are available on things like how to safeguard your home from potential thieves, and the Dorset Alert service, which sends out safety messages.
The roadshows will also offer advice on how to become a member of a local Neighbourhood Watch scheme, as part of Neighbourhood and Home Watch Week.
We spoke to PCSO Glen Caddy at yesterday’s event in Dorchester. He told us he wanted to encourage residents to be more vigilant at protecting their property and possessions;
'If people have had concerns about their property, we've been giving prevention advice and we can follow that up if they wish and see what they can do to lessen the chances of being a victim of crime.
'Burglary is very low in the Dorchester area but we want to do everything we can to reduce that even more.'
