Electrical Fault Blamed for Major Cottage and Stables Fire in Lulworth

Lulworth

9:45am 26th June 2014
(Updated 9:51am 26th June 2014)

A stable block has been completely destroyed and a thatched cottage severely damaged after a fire in East Lulworth.

70 firefighters were battling the flames at the height of the blaze at Mount Pleasant yesterday afternoon and into the evening (Wednesday 25th June).

60% of the thatched roof was destroyed.

Dorset Fire and Rescue say the blaze is thought to have started due to an electrical fault in the stable block near the cottage.

Onlookers were urged to stay well away whilst fire crews tried to extinguish the flames. Luckily no one was hurt in the fire.
