Twist Of Fate Gives Villagers New Bus Stop

Bus Shelter

6:49am 30th June 2014

A rather unusual twist of fate has resulted in a new bus stop in a village near Bridport.

A wall was built outside houses at Peas Hill in Shipton Gorge, in an effort to stop cars parking on the pavement and improve safety.

A bus shelter followed, much to the dismay of some local councillors, but it's now been turned into an official bus stop thanks to Sally Parker, who lives at Peas Hill:

"It's a much safer stop now than where it was before, which was further up the road, where the visibility was not so good for traffic or children getting off.

"The residents are very happy with the shelter. It's better for the kids and we see people using it all the time."

And she paid tribute to parish councillor Stuart Thompson for being so supportive during the process:  "He was instrumental in getting this through."

Magna Housing paid for the initial wall to be built which paved the way for the bus shelter.
