Weymouth Walk In Centre Given Two Year Extension
9:18am 30th June 2014
People who don't have a GP or who can't get to see one will still be able to access medical advice in Weymouth.
Weymouth Walk in Centre and the Health Centre in the town will continue to run for the next two years.
You can visit the service without an appointment between 8am and 8pm.
Health care practitioners say they'll be looking at how the walk in service and the minor injuries unit can better work together.
Locality Chair for the Weymouth and Portland Locality with NHS Dorset CCG, Dr Karen Kirkham explains;
"The Weymouth Walk In Centre was commissioned to deliver a walk in service without a prearranged appointment. This sits alongside the Minor Injuries Unit and other out of hours services. Now we have agreed an extension to the current contract we have the opportunity to explore if and how services can better work together to meet the current and future requirements of local people."
"The top priority for everyone working in healthcare is the wellbeing of the local community. We want to work with , and listen to, local people to understand local health needs and the extended contract gives us sufficient time to ensure what is on offer in the future is appropriate."
