Young Rowers In Dorset School's Championships
10:25am 4th July 2014
More than 50 youngsters from local schools will be taking to the waters off the Nothe next weekend for the Dorset Schools Rowing Championships.
Weymouth Rowing Club's been putting the year 10 pupils through their paces.
They want to end their training with a day of celebration next Friday, and are asking for local firms to donate trophies, certificates and party food.
Andy Preston is treasurer of Weymouth Rowing Club - he says the conditions are ideal;
" We live on the most beautiful coast in the country. We have some fantastic waters off Weymouth. We have a sheltered harbour. We are very lucky to be gig rowing at Weymouth."
" There's discipline in rowing, you have to listen and you have to get fit."
The local schools who've been taking part include Budmouth, Thomas Hardye, Sir John Colfox, IPACA, Wey Valley, Beaminster and St Osmunds.
The event will be held at The Nothe, then later at the Boat Shed on Friday 11th July.
