Bovington Soldiers Parade For The Prince
8:32am 7th July 2014
The Earl Of Wessex visited Bovington at the weekend to mark the restructuring of The Royal Wessex Yeomanry as part of new changes to the Army.
His Royal Highness oversaw a unification parade in his role as the Honorary Colonel of the regiment.
As part of the change, A Squadron based in Dorset will now become part of the Royal Wessex Yeomanry regimental family and will see it formally recognised as Y Squadron.
The unification parade also saw the presentation of a new, unifying cap badge which features the Wessex Dragon.
The new unified regiment will provide fully trained Challenger two main battle tank crews in support of the new British Army reaction force.
