An online travel agent claims "trips abroad are better value for money than staycations", but Dorset holiday parks disagree.
Broadway Travel says calls for VAT on UK holidays to be cut, will have little impact because overseas resorts will still be cheaper.
Following the credit crunch, more families have been opting for staycations in Dorset and along the coast.
Scott Condliffe from Fresh Water Holiday Park in Burton Bradstock says they're still filling their pitches and are set for a better summer than last year.
Scott dismisses the Travel Agents claims and says holidaying at home is just as good financially:
"If you have a large family going abroad it can be quite expensive when you take into account plane fairs, extra rooms in hotels. So staying in this country can be very beneficial and great value for money. We're seeing growth in the industry so we're quite confident about the future."
Manager Karen Kennedy from Bagwell Farm in Chickerell joined Scott in rubbishing the tour operator claims about better value abroad:
"We're finding more and more people are finding camping and caravanning is still great value for money. You can often book a whole week for the price of going abroad, and that’s the whole family with the dog too, you can't take a dog on the aeroplane.
Why would you get up in the middle of the night to travel all day with the kids when you start your holiday just an hour or two after leaving home."
