Efforts to Boost Trade and Footfall in Dorchester Town

Dorchester Town Centre

8:20am 9th July 2014

Independent businesses in the heart of Dorchester are joining forces.

Around 20 have pledged to work together to better what they do.

A further 15 have registered their interest.

Their first idea is to produce a poster - and a map - to explain to customers where you can find them.

The aim is to make sure shoppers know all the options they have available in the traditional heart of the county town.

Jim Ross from the Durnovaria Wine Bar is leading the campaign.

He says the town has a lot to be proud of.

"Dorchester town itself has amazing history and heritage and a very high proportion of independent businesses compared to across the country.  These businesses bring uniqueness and diversity across the town."

"The issue with some of these businesses is that some of them are difficult to find, they're not all in one area and they all do so many different things that it's important for people to be aware what they can get and where they go to get them."
