There's More To Fish Than Cod And Chips...
3:58pm 9th July 2014
Dorset consumers are being urged to support local fisherman and make the most of the local seafood which the county has to offer.
This weekend sees the Dorset Seafood Festival in Weymouth.
Duncan Lucas from Passionate About Fish is just one of the exhibitors taking part. He thinks we need to be braver when it comes to cooking fish.
"We're not use to seeing whole fish being handled at home so we are very nervous about asking questions and going to speak to people about what we could be buying on that day by recommendation of the person who is selling it. Filleting fish is really easy, the hardest bit is the confidence to take part."
Duncan and his wife Sue are holding filleting demonstration at the Seafood Festival.
They'll also have a stand showing us all types of fish that are available here in Dorset.
"We're working with the local fisherman. They're actually landing fish locally to go on our display which is the first year we've done this. So we're trying to market the fisherman and their boats and the names of their boats so people can understand the end to end supply."
You can catch up with the Wessex FM team who will be at the festival all weekend.
