Dorset Seafood Festival Raises Vital Funds

Dorset Seafood Festival 2014

8:03am 13th July 2014

It's the second day of the Dorset Seafood Festival.

Record crowds turned out to the event yesterday.

Proceeds this year are going to the Fishermen's Mission, who also help families who lose their loved ones at sea, like in the Purbeck Isle Tragedy off Portland.

John Anderson from the Fishermen's Mission says they've also backed a campaign to get local fisherman to use a life saving floatation device.

“The incident brought it home to the local fisherman how very important these devices are.  They went on to start their own campaign and provide for themselves to look after their own safety which was a marvellous response.”
