A Win For Common Sense And Parking In Dorchester
10:42am 14th July 2014
Common sense has won through.
That's how MP Oliver Letwin has described the news that the Ministry of Justice has given permission for businesses and residents to use car park at Dorchester Prison.
It will free up 40 new spaces in the town while they site is sold.
Mr Letwin says he's surprise at the speed which this has happened.
"Amazingly the MOJ and the District council were both very helpful, and we found the right helpful officials so it's gone through in three or four months which is amazing."
Residents will be able to park there for FREE over night.
Scott Duncan from the BID is also co founder of Medusa Apothecary and says he's well aware of the problems with parking.
"Its one of the main reasons why I joined the BID in the first place. Parking is one of the burning issues in Dorchester and anything we can do to get some extra space is great."
Businesses are already expressing their interest in the permits since we first ran this story on Thursday.
