Digital Champions Offer Help To The Computer Shy
8:30am 16th July 2014
A study has revealed that an one in five Dorset residents cannot use the Internet due to a lack of basic knowledge.
A local volunteer group, Digital Champions, is now acting as part of a national effort to bridge the digital divide. With technologies advancing and many private and public services moving online, access to the Internet is becoming increasingly important.
Wendy Maggs from the group told Wessex FM: "Life can be quite hard for people who might be excluded or isolated from using the internet due to their age or background. And they're often the ones who really could benefit most from being online".
The Digital Champions are inviting locals to drop by Dorchester Library and Learning Centre today (Wednesday 16th July), between 9.30am and 1pm, and will be sharing their knowledge and experience to help people improve their computer skills.
