A Weymouth family have been left distraught after a burglar broke into their house while they were asleep in bed.
The thief let themselves into Louise Cairns' home in Shirecroft Road, Westham, in the early hours of Sunday morning after they had mistakenly left the back door unlocked.
The thief did a sweep of the living room and the kitchen and took a number of items of sentimental value.
Louise says they got up the next morning around 8am, and didn't even notice something was wrong until an hour later when she went to use her lap top.
She desperately wants it back as it has precious family pictures on it.
"We work really hard. We don't have very much and the pictures of my youngest which were on the lap top are so important to us as its our only child together. You can't put a price on those things."
Louise also had a pair of earrings that her mum gave her stolen which she desperately wants returned.
She's urging anyone who has information to get in contact with the Police.
Police Constable Dave Thorne, of Weymouth police, said: “This crime is very upsetting for the victims – especially to know that someone was in their house uninvited while they were asleep.
“I am appealing for anybody who has information that could help the investigation to contact the police soon as possible.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered similar items for sale in strange circumstances or for unusually low prices.
“I would also like to stress the importance of keeping your property secure even when you are at home. For crime prevention advice, please visit our website on the following link: http://CrimePrevention.dorset.police.uk.”
