800 People Have Their Say On Charles Street Plans
1:12pm 23rd July 2014
More than 800 people went along to a two day public consultation in Dorchester to find out about Phase 2 of the Charles Street Development.
A team from the developers Simons Group took over a shop in South Terrace and were on hand to answer questions and explain the proposals for the scheme to redevelop the Charles Street car park.
The revised plans will feature new stores for Waitrose and Mark & Spencer, 67 apartments and more than 460 car park spaces.
Developers Simons says the responses were very positive.
They'll submit a planning application at the end of the month.
Graeme Cosgrove, Group Director of Development for Simons, said he was delighted at the response.
'We wanted to give local people the chance to find out more about the latest proposals and to hear what they thought,' he said.
'The response was very positive and we were able to answer questions on both the scheme as a whole and about the construction phase.
'We are now collating all the information from the feedback forms and this will really help us in making this hugely important scheme for Dorchester a reality.'
