7:47am 25th July 2014
The Department of education has come back with a better offer for schools funding in Dorset.
The County will now receive an extra £3.1M.
That means the schools budget will increase by £64 per pupil.
The County Council will consult with schools over how the money will be spent.
Cllr Toni Coombs, Cabinet member for education, said:
"We welcome this revised announcement, following our consultation with the DfE, of additional funding for Dorset. Based upon this set of figures it will mean an extra £3.1m for Dorset children. This autumn we will discuss how this should be used to support education for our children and young people with the schools forum."
