A fire alarm which caused a Dorchester superstore to be evacuated was a false alarm, Dorset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.

The Co-Op store in Dorchester had to evacuate at around 1:15pm and two fire engines at the scene.

A spokesperson from the fire service said officers investigated, and it was found that the alarm was triggered by an overheated light fixture.
