Wessex FM is leaving town, but not entirely.
After being based in Trinity Street in Dorchester for the last 21 years, we are now moving to new, state of the art studios on the Poundbury West Industrial Estate.
The move will happen in September and will allow the station to continue to grow.
There will be no disruption to our output during the move.
Wessex FM has been broadcasting from its current premises since its launch in September 1993. With new technology and the drive to deliver more creative and on-line solutions, the current building does not have the space we need to expand.
The benefits of the move will be onsite and free on road parking for clients and guests, space for the new staff we intend to hire, and new state of the art studios for our news team and presenters.
The latest independent audience figures from RAJAR show that Wessex FM continues to grow its audience. We now have 57% of all adults in the area listening to us every month, which is more than 70,000 people.
We also maintain our long held position of being the most listened to local radio station by far, with around three times the listeners of the local BBC and any other commercial radio station.
Wessex FM is proud to be part of the UKRD radio group - four times winner of the Sunday Times Best Mid-Size Company to work for.
