Final Day of Dorset Drink Drive Campaign
1:28pm 31st July 2014
Today is the final day of Dorset Police's Summer Drink and Drug Drive Campaign.
The initiative, running from Sunday 1st June, has seen over 80 people charged with driving whilst under the influence. Anyone due to appear in court has had their names and court details released to the media. This year also saw the campaign extended to include increased checks during the World Cup.
Inspector Matt Butler, from Dorset Police's Traffic Unit, said: "Every year we warn people of the dangers of drink driving but some people still choose to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol, putting themselves and the lives of others at risk.
"I have seen far too many lives lost on the roads due to drink driving. Research has shown that even one drink can impair the ability to drive so please don't get behind the wheel after drinking any alcohol at all."
