Pathology Service Decision Delayed
10:43am 1st August 2014
Campaigners against the proposed transfer of the pathology service have welcomed an agreement to DELAY the decision.
The transfer from Dorset County Hospital to a privately run laboratory in Taunton has been delayed by Dorset County Hospital Trust.
The decision has been delayed until it's October Board meeting.
Cllr Ros Kayes on the Dorset Health Scrutiny Committee asked the Committee's Chairman to request that the Trust delay the decision until after the Commitee have made it's own comments on the issue.
''It made little sense, for a Committee whose role is to scrutinise the process of changes to health provision, to only get to comment after the event.''
Andy Stillman, a spokesperson for the Dorset Health Campaign said;
''While we welcome the extra time to allow more people to be involved in the decision making process, at the end of the day we still see this privatisation as being against the best interests and wishes of the people who use the health services of Dorset.''
