2p Coin Makes £ 1100 At Auction
6:13am 4th August 2014
A 2 pence coin has sold for One thousand One hundred pounds at an auction in Dorset.
But this is no ordinary 1988 bronze coin...in fact it wasn't bronze at all...it was minted in the wrong metal, being made in cupro-nickel, like our so called 'silver' 5 to 50 p's
Newspaper cuttings relating to the vendor David Didcock's find...he discovered it when opening a brand new pack of new pences over 25 years ago, went under the hammer in the same lot at Charternhouse Auctions in Sherborne.
The buyer, a coin collector, wishes to remain anonymous
