Around £3,000 has been donated to local charities after a year's fundraising in Weymouth.
Former Mayor Ray Banham choose St John's Ambulance and CLIC Sargent as his selected charities during his time as Mayor.
The funds which total £2,995.06 have been raised through events during the 2013-14 including town collections, donations and charity stalls.
Ray said he was delighted that the local community had been so generous and donated towards the fund.
At the cheque presentation on Friday 8 August in the Weymouth CLIC Sargent charity store Ray explained why he choose his selected charities, "Without St John's Ambulance, on many occasions there's many events that wouldn't be able to take place. And CLIC Sargent does an awful lot of very good work with children with cancer, with their familes, and I felt it was a worthy cause."
Current Mayor Cllr Kate Wheller is supporting her selected charity, The Friendship Club.
