Floats And Volunteers Needed For Weymouth Carnival
8:10am 11th August 2014
Organisers of this year's Weymouth Carnival are making a final appeal for procession entries and volunteers.
The big event on Wednesday 20th August is now just over a week away.
Deputy Chairman Lee Armstrong says it's not too late to take part;
"Floats are coming in. We've got quite a few walking entries but we are still looking for both. So please get in contact with us via the Weymouth Carnival Website where you can download an entry form."
The procession this year is back to its old route and will leave Weymouth Pavilion at 6.30pm, travelling along the esplanade and up to Lodmoor Country Park.
But Lee says they'll still looking for volunteers to help out.
"We still need help in marshalling the procession route as we're going with less barriers around the seafront. It's still not too late to help out, so we would anyone who can give up just a couple of hours to come down. You'll still be able to watch the procession and be involved with Carnival Day."
Other highlights of the day will include the Great War Air Display over Weymouth Bay and Red Arrows who will be on at 5.30pm.
Wessex FM will be broadcasting from the event and make sure you look out for the Wessex FM "We love Wild Wild West Dorset" float.
