Safety of Weymouth's Roads to be Reviewed
5:10pm 14th August 2014
Auditors will be looking at Weymouth's roads in an attempt to make them safer and less congested.
The transport was previously revamped in preparation for the Olympic Games, as part of a £9.3 million project - now experts will be looking at accident records and providing solutions for problem areas.
The aim of this study is to make the roads safer and more pleasant for all users by looking at ways of reducing traffic in busy areas.
Areas where improvements will be sought include:
- Boot Hill/Harbour Crossroads
- The Wyke Road/Rodwell Rd junction
- The Jubilee clock junction on the Esplanade
Mike Byatt, County Councillor for Weymouth Town, said: "The county council have been mindful of the needs of the town's residents and visitors. This review will help ensure that our transport plan is fit for purpose and is integrated into Weymouth town centre's 'master' plan."
