Military Festival In Borough Gardens
9:01am 16th August 2014
An ex-soldier from Dorset is supporting local armed forces by holding Dorchester's first Military Festival.
Ted Kaine says the Festival's taken him two years to put together and will be held in the Borough Gardens today (16th August).
He's organised the event to raise money for the Rifles "Care For Casualties" charity, and Ted told us there'll be many interesting people there on the day, "Every military re-enactment group that I could find is coming, so I have Romans and Saxons and Vikings and Pirates and Victorian Artillery, WW1, WW2, military vehicles, up to the TA and the Cadets."
He continued to explain how his idea came together, "Dorchester doesn't do anything like this and I thought it was time, so I've got backing from the MOD, support from the Duchy and the Dorchester Town Council, along with a lot of local shops and traders."
Dorchester's Mayor Peter Mann will be opening the Festival at 10am, and it'll go on until 4pm.
