Children Hunt for Flags around Dorchester
9:05am 22nd August 2014
Children visiting Dorchester are turning detective, in the hunt for over 100 flags around the town.
The shops of Dorchester have once again hidden stickers for children to collect, in hopes to win prizes. This year there are 115 flags to find from the countries involved in the Commonwealth Games and the FIFA World Cup.
Now in its third year, with over 700 people taking part, the competition has hit record numbers.
Local resident Jeremy Bessant and son Jack have been taking part in the competition: "It's been nice to get a bit of sunshine and enjoy the British weather for a change and Jack's already planning what he's going to spend his winnings on."
The competition is open until 16th September, when all booklets must be returned to the Dorchester Business Improvement District on 49 High West Street.
The categories are for 10 years and under and 11-16 year olds; there will be a first prize of £70, a second prize of £40 and a third prize of £20 vouchers to be spent in Dorchester shops. Some shops are even offering to top the prize fund if the money were to be spent there!
To take part collect a free booklet from The Information Centre in Dorchester and look for the flags in the windows of the shops taking part, then go in and find the stickers. @DorchDude on twitter will be available to help give clues to the whereabouts of some of the more difficult stickers.
