Beaches Youth Club to Move to New Building

A youth club in Weymouth has been given a roof over their heads thanks to a group of organisations.
The Beaches Youth Club, which has been in existence for more than 30 years, were looking for a more permanent facility and have been granted a lease of a disused small toilet block which will be converted into a Drop In facility for young people.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council granted the lease at a small cost and together with a large grant from Synergy Housing and help from the Big Lottery Fund work has started and should be completed in the next couple of months.
Unlike the more traditional type of Youth clubs they will also focus on Healthy Living, Sex Education and Employment Advice as part of their activities.
Cllr Kate Wheller Mayor of W&P and trustee said: "I am so pleased on behalf of the Young People of the Wyke Regis area that The Big Lottery Fund has enabled the completion of the works. For so long working out in the open with varying weather conditions made it very difficult to maintain any consistency in the education process."
