Elderly Care

7:37am 4th September 2014
(Updated 2:27pm 4th September 2014)

A new support group's being launched in Dorchester today for people who's loved ones have gone into residential care.

"Carers Moving Forward" has been set up by Enid Evans.

After looking after her husband for 13 and a half years, she said she didn't have the support she needed when he went into emergency care last year;

"You need to be speaking to someone who knows the situation of how you can deal with the devastation and loss and bewilderment of being left, of coming home and shutting the door and suddenly you are on your own."

The group will offer information, friendship and social activities.

The first meeting will be held on the 18th September between 10am and 12pm at the Acland Road Day Centre and thereafter every 3rd Thursday of the month.

Today's launch party will be attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Dorchester and the Town Mayor.
