Chippy Raises Cash For Baby Care Unit

Alfs Fish And Chips 1

7:39am 4th September 2014

Generous customers at Alfs Fish and Chips in Weymouth have helped raise hundreds of pounds for Dorset County Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit.

Sister Danielle Snooks says the money will make a real difference;

"We're really pleased because we've been given £800 and we can use that to get some more equipment.  Also we've got some new parent's rooms and we can use the money to make those really nice when families come and stay, so they can be a home from home."

John Pearce who owns the family run chippy in Lynch Lane with his wife Karen, tells us how they raised the money.

"With thanks to Wessex FM and their listeners we put a box on the counter and had people donating money into the box every night.  Our next project is an old people's Christmas Party and we plan to feed 200 elderly local residents this year."
