Service Of Remembrance At Weymouth Crematorium

Crematorium 02

7:34am 7th September 2014

Weymouth Crematorium hosts its annual Service of Remembrance this afternoon.

The service offers the opportunity for anyone to remember a friend, colleague or loved one who they've lost.

The service will start at 2pm and be taken by Mr Leslie Scrase.

There will be hymns, poems and readings and a local choir. There will also be the opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one.

Cllr Francis Drake, Brief Holder for Social Inclusion at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: "Anyone from all faiths and beliefs are welcome to attend to reflect and remember loved ones that have sadly passed on.

"People can also take the opportunity to walk in the grounds of the crematorium and enjoy the rose garden in a peaceful atmosphere of collective remembrance."

It is now the third year that Weymouth Crematorium has held its Service of Remembrance.

Weymouth Crematorium on Quibo Lane, Weymouth is run by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council.

The chapel is open for private prayer from Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm when no service is in progress.

A Book of Remembrance is situated in a room to the rear of the cloisters and is open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm, and on weekends and Bank Holidays 10am to 4pm.
