Hay and Straw Alight

There's been a large fire at Compton Valence in West Dorset.

Dorset Fire and Rescue were called at 1105 to report of pile of straw alight in the yard of Hogleaze Farm.

2 appliances Dorchester were mobilised but due to the poor water supply in the area another 2 appliances from Bridport and Sherborne were also mobilised along with the Water Carrier from Yeovil.

The fire involved approx 3 tons of hay, straw and rubbish alight and was extinguished using 2 hosereel jets, beaters and farm equipment to open out the pile so that firefighters could get to the seat of the fire.
