Youngster's Chance To Join 'Round the World Yacht Race'

A Weymouth charity is giving one young person the chance to compete in the world's longest ocean race.

The Andrew Simpson sailing foundation's been given a berth on one of the legs of the Clipper Race.

The charity, which was founded in memory of Olympic sailor Andrew Simpson, is asking for nominations for 18 to 24 year olds.

Race Chairman Sir Robin Knox Johnston says it will be a great experience for the lucky winner;

"That distance of over 5,000 miles is a very long voyages in anyone's terms. Anyone who does that voyage is going to have bragging rights.  They have done something special.  And don't underestimate the North Pacific, its just as big and nasty as the southern ocean.  Its a big challenge. But then of course if things are easy why bother doing them? Do the tough things in life and then you've got something to be proud of."
