'Bart's Bash' World Record Attempt
12:00am 21st September 2014
A Guinness World Record Attempt to stage the largest round the world race is taking place today.
Bart's Bash has been organised by the Andrew Simpson Foundation.
Andrew "Bart" Simpson was a Dorset Olympic medallist who lost his life while training for the America's Cup.
We're being invited to go and watch the action at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.
Event manager Tim Anderton says he's amazed by the support they've had.
"We've got over 750 clubs now and over 14,000 people taking part."
"We want everyone to come down to the Sailing Academy and enjoy the day."
"Andrew was very inspiring - he was a larger than life figure in sailing and today we'd like to raise funds for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation."
Wessex FM will be there and is pleased to have been asked to support this event.
