Thunder & Lightning Predicted By Met Office

Lightening Storm 2

9:30am 20th September 2014

A severe weather warning's been issued for the south coast of England including Dorset for the rest of the day.

The Met Office says further heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to continue through Saturday and into Saturday evening, with the main risk becoming confined to southern parts of the warning area from late afternoon.

The public should be aware of the potential for isolated disruption due to surface water flooding and lightning strikes.

Yesterday a bolt of lighting struck a house in Wootton Fitzpaine. Dorset Fire and rescue say there was extensive damage to the roof and first floor of the buidling.

The occupants were unharmed, while electricity to around 60 homes had to be restored by Western Power Distribution
