Music Teachers Help Shape The Future Of Services

12:48pm 25th September 2014

Music teachers in Dorset have taken part in a survey to find out how they can reach out to more children and young people in the county.

The County Council wants to find new ways of supporting teachers and getting children involved in music - especially young people in challenging circumstances.

The survey looked an all type of music genres and singing.

Cllr Toni Coombs, Cabinet member for education at Dorset County Council, said: "Music brings people together and makes them feel part of a group. It also helps children and young people develop their creative skills and support their development and well-being. All children should have the opportunity to take part in musical activities and discover the pleasure that music can bring.

"This is a real opportunity for everyone working in music-related activities to tell us what support they need and help shape the future of services."
