8:14am 1st October 2014
Cycling in Dorset could is set for a PR boost after a group of international journalists visited the county on a bike tour.
The coverage from the event will reach over a million readers in countries like Germany, Belgium and Holland.
The visit was arranged by Dorset County Council and Visit England with help from Weymouth-based cycle holiday company Signpost Cycling to show off the county's cycling routes.
They're hoping that events like this will help inform tourists from Europe about other tourist hotspots in the county.
Signpost Cycling Principal Roy Griffiths told Wessex FM; "Activity adventure is the way forward to extend our holiday season in Weymouth, Portland and Dorset, which in turn will strengthen the economy."
Flip Von Doorn is a Dutch Freelance Journalist for Plus Magazine - he told Wessex FM what stood out about Dorset for him;
“After maybe 7 miles of cycling I have seen 7 different types of landscape. There’s lots of variety in the landscape and that’s what I like very much.”
