Weymouth School Opens A Fair Trade Shop
7:44am 6th October 2014
School children are being given the chance to run their own Fair Trade Shop at a specialist Academy in Weymouth.
All the goods at the store in Wyvern Academy will be managed and sold by students as part of a new method of giving them real life skills.
Teachers say it'll show them how to use subjects like Maths in practical situations and will help prepare them for life after school.
The new project is also teaching students about how food is sourced.
Head Teacher Sue Hoxey told Wessex FM;
"Those who are using the shop are learning how to use and the value of money. This will enable students to develop skills to use when out in the community and the fact that everything is Fair Trade is helping students of all ages to think about the source of the products they buy and to make choices about them."
