Work Due To Start Today On West Beach
9:31am 13th October 2014
Work to build vital flood defences at West Bay in Bridport is due to start today.
West Beach will be re-nourished with shingle after it was battered by severe storms earlier this year.
West Dorset District Council say the work will last around two weeks and will close off parking spaces along the Esplanade.
West Dorset District Council's Head of Infrastructure Ben Murray told Wessex FM; "We will be occupying a number of spaces on the Esplanade Park area of West Bay so we can safely undertake our work without closing the road. However, there will be adequate parking provision in and around the West Bay area."
The new shingle will also be covered in red dust but West Dorset District said this will eventually wash away.
The work is due to take place between 7:30am and 5:50pm, and may involve some weekend work.
The council is apologising for any inconvenience it may cause.
