Phone Scammers Targeting West Dorset Again

12:14pm 13th October 2014

Phone scammers are again targeting people in West Dorset.

Callers claim to be from the police or a bank and ask for account details and money.

Bridport Inspector Mike Darby told Wessex FM; "Genuine police officers will first of all not ask people to divulge bank account details. Secondly if you get a phone call from people pretending they're working for banks, asking if you have a Barclays or NatWest Bank account, again banks don't operate in this way."

The police are asking anyone who receives a phone call like this to hang up instantly and report the incident to them on 999.
