Plans For Wind Farm Submitted To WDDC

8:16am 15th October 2014

Six new 115m wind turbines that would power around 8000 Dorset homes could be coming to the county.

Broadview Energy has submitted the plans to West Dorset District Council to build a wind farm on Slyer's Lane, near Charminster.

Campaign group No Slyer's Lane Turbine is fighting the plans claiming it'll despoil the landscape for profit.

Despite protests Development Manager Tom Cosgrove said "A large proportion of the public do support the expansion of on-shore wind power. The Department for Energy and Climate change ran and annual opinion tracker on renewable energy and that showed 70% of the public support the expansion."

If approved by West Dorset District Council, the wind farm could be up and running in 18 months.
