Row Over Bin Collections In Weymouth

After refuse collectors in Weymouth were confronted by angry residents, Dorset Waste Partnership is trying to help people better understand the new bin collection routine.
It happened in the town's Park District during the first recycling collection in the area when people reacted badly to being told their non-recyclables weren't going to be taken.
Eventually all the rubbish was cleared from the street but it left the council worried about the incident happening again.
The area is known for its high turnover over of waste because of multiple people sharing flats so Dorset Waste Partnership wants to make sure everybody is aware of the new system.
A Dorset Waste Partnership spokesman said "Unfortunately our collection team were verbally abused by some residents, which is unacceptable.
"We informed the local police but their assistance was not needed.
"Non-recyclable rubbish was cleared from the area but in future we will carry out further communications with the community to try to increase participation in recycling."
