Weymouth Christmas Lantern Parade Wins £10,000 In Funding

Victorian Show Night Snow

8:45am 20th October 2014
(Updated 10:01am 20th October 2014)

Weymouth will be lit up this Christmas after getting nearly £10,000 for their Victorian Shownight.

The grant from the Arts Council will be used by Weymouth BID and event organisers, Roger Dalton Associates, to create a Lantern Parade.

It will launch the two day Christmas festival on the 5th and 6th December, supported by Wessex FM.

Lanterns will be made by five local primary and two secondary schools.

The team will also be encouraging families to create their own simple 'flying lantern' made at home to join in with the parade, which will start in Hope Square, moving along the old harbour, and finishing in New Bond street.
