A Dorchester man's first ever half marathon has raised funds for youngsters in the town
Lee Rhodes took on the Bournemouth half marathon to support young people in Dorchester via the Dorset Youth Association.
Lee said "I am delighted to have raised £633.25 to help the young people of Dorchester and I would like to say a huge 'thank you' to all of those who sponsored me so generously. I have been overwhelmed with the support I have had and was really spurred on by people's generosity."
Lee ran the 13.1 mile distance in 2 Hours 5 minutes and 50 seconds. Lee said, "I am delighted with the time which smashed my expectations. I really enjoyed the run but was a bit sore for a few days afterwards."
Dave Thompson, Director of the Association said "I would like to echo Lee's thanks to all of those who sponsored him. The money will be used to support vulnerable young people from the Dorchester area when they ask for our help at Routes Young People's Advice centre."
Lee is already aiming to run the distance again in the Weymouth half marathon in March 2015. He's pictured above (left) with Dave Thompson, of the DYA (right).
