More than 600 children in Dorset from low income families are getting new support to stop them falling behind - before they've even started school.

Schools, nurseries and childminders in the county will be given £300 for every 3 and 4 year old from a disadvantaged family.

Nurseries will have the freedom to decide how to spend the money, which could be used to employ specialists in speech and language.

Around 12,300 children in the South West will benefit from the Early Years Pupil Premium which has been launched by the Government.
