8:52am 30th October 2014
New plans to modernise Chideock Post Office have been given the stamp of approval.
The branch will now be open seven days a week.
Customers will be able to pay bills, do banking, collect benefits and travel money, as well as postage and home shopping returns.
Michael Moles, owner of Chideock Post Office said: "As a community retailer we are delighted to offer Post Office services in our store. I'm looking forward to introducing my existing customers to the new service, and welcoming new people to the store. I'm confident they will be pleased with the flexibility and convenience of the new Post Office service."
It will mean the post office will have to close on the 22nd November for refurbishment.
Adrian Skinner, Area Manager said: "We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Chideock and we are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular. The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy to the end of the decade."
