Have You Re-applied To Be On The Housing List?
8:15am 31st October 2014
If you’re on the housing list in Dorset you now have until the 11th of November to re-apply.
Local councils are changing the way social housing is allocated. The changes will come into effect on 17th December, 2014.
The changes will affect all councils that make up the Dorset Choice Based Lettings Partnership, which includes Purbeck District Council, West Dorset District Council and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council.
Weymouth & Portland Borough Council Housing Briefholder Cllr Kevin Brookes said: "The deadline for residents to re-register on the Dorset Home Choice scheme is looming. I would encourage anyone who wants to continue to be considered for housing on the scheme to ensure they are registered by 11 November."
The new allocation policy will take effect are:
- A requirement for a local connection to the authority area being applied to in order to be able to remain on or join the register
- Applicants that are deemed to have the financial means to address their housing situation will be unable to remain on or join the register
- Applicants who are adequately housed will no longer be able to remain on or join the register
Residents who no longer qualify for a place on the register will still be able to access help and support including assistance with referrals to other housing options or support to keep people in their homes.
