Gas Supplies Reconnected To 400 Homes In Preston
10:14am 6th November 2014
Around 400 homes in Preston in Weymouth now have gas again.
Engineers say they’ve visited every property affected but will be going back to homes today where no one was in last night.
Help is still available from a customer care centre in Preston Village Hall.
Southern Gas Networks have given this update to Wessex FM:
“If customers were out when our engineer called (they will leave a card), they should call our 24-hour Customer Service team on 0800 912 1717 and we will arrange for an engineer to revisit them as soon as possible.”
“For security reasons customers should always ask to see the identification card of anyone calling at their home. All our engineers carry a laminated identity card. If they are in any doubt, they should refuse entry and seek assistance from a neighbour or relative, or call the telephone number on the identification card.”
“Customers will be compensated for their time without gas. After the first 24 hours, they will receive £30 for each 24-hour period they are without gas. This will be paid automatically through their gas supplier.”
“We would like apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the Preston community once again for their support and understanding.”
