Dorset Members of the UK Youth Parliament are taking part in a debate at the House of Commons today.

They’re joining 300 other MYP’s to discuss issues including the living wage, better work experience and careers advice.

A record number of young people, 865,000 voted for the subjects being discussed.

Dorset MYP, Francesca Reed, is leading one of the debates and is speaking in favour of Improving Mental Health Services.

Subjects like exam resits in Maths and English and votes for 16 and 17 year olds in all public elections are also up for discussion.

The debates will be streamed live on the Parliamentary website, and all schools across the UK have been encouraged to tune in.

At the end of the event, MYPS will vote to decide which of the topics will be become their focus for their national campaign for 2015.
